What Is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a minimally invasive procedure that exfoliates your skin and removes dirt, dead skin cells and villus hair (also known as "peach fuzz"). Dermaplaning can remove up to three weeks worth of dead skin cells from the face.

What are the benefits?

Dermaplaning can help minimise the appearance of acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles and dull skin. The procedure can reveal smoother, firmer and healthier skin.

Will my hair grow back thicker?

NO! Facial hair does not grow back thicker or darker as a result of Dermaplaning. It isn't possible for your hair to do this, as dermaplaning is a non-invasive exfoliating treatment. Dermaplaning, unlike traditional shaving, uses a smaller blade to slough off dead skin cells in addition to removing wispy facial hair, so skin is more even in tone and texture.

Can I have the treatment?

Unfortunately, if you have any of the below conditions on the face, you will not be able to receive the treatment; an active case of acne, cold sore outbreaks, active Eczema or Psoriasis, skin burns or skin rashes.

When should I book my next appointment?

It is recommended that you schedule a Dermaplaning appointment every 4 weeks in order to maintain regular exfoliation. Exfoliating is highly beneficial for the skin and helps to keep it fresh and healthy.

How Can I Prepare For My Appointment?

Stay hydrated!!! Ensure to drink lots of fluids before your Dermaplaning appointment as this is the secret to healthy skin. it also helps prevent any post-procedure discomfort. Always ensure all cuts are fully healed before scheduling your Dermaplaning appointment. Avoid using products with retinol, as this can cause the skin to become flaky and potentially irritated.

Aftercare Advice

  • Cleanse your face with a gentle cleanser to remove any debris or residue left behind on the skin's surface.
  • For two weeks post-treatment, stick to a simple skincare routine using just a gentle cleanser, hydrating serum or face oil, and sunscreen every day.
  • Choose a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher and apply it every day, even if you're just spending time indoors.
  • Avoid wearing makeup for at least 24 hours after dermaplaning. This will give your skin time to heal and recover from the treatment.
  • Drink plenty of water as this helps keep the skin hydrated.
  • Avoid touching your face so that the skin can stay away from any bacteria.
